If you are into tanning then you probably have heard of airbrush spray tans. While it's relatively new to the tanning market more and more salons are adding it to their service list.
I recently spoke to an owner of a local tanning salon who informed me she was getting more and more requests for such a service. She hadn't yet offered it as a service on her menu but was seriously considering getting into the business.
Throughout my research I found a wide range of costs associated with Air-Brush tanning. Here are the ranges I found per session:
- Full Body Airbrush Tan ranged from $28 - $65 per session with discounts for purchasing multiple sessions up-front.
- Legs Only ranged from $12 - $30/session
- Upper Body ranged from $15- $40/session
- Face & Neck Only from $10 - $25/session
- Arms Only from $10 - $25/session
Of course you have to keep in mind the skill level of the person applying your tan. The type of equipment used will also play a role in pricing.
So is Air Brush Tanning worth the cost?
Here is a list of questions to ask yourself before determining if spending up to $60 on a tanning session is worth it:
- Are you able to get a good tan using more traditional methods such as spray tanning booths, tanning beds, or natural sun light? If so, then airbrush tanning may not be worth the cost.
- Are you concerned about the health risks associated with natural sun tanning?
- Do you often get skin irritation lying in a tanning bed?
- Can you afford it?
Some people will use this method of tanning for special occasions. Do you have a wedding to go to? An important interview where you want to look your best? Or a vacation to a warm place where you don't want to look like a ghost on the beach?
Others use it to cover up tan lines that show when wearing a dress, sleeveless shirt, or tank.
Does Airbrush tanning work?
The short answer is, YES, but it also depends on what product is used and who is doing the spraying. It is not as easy as it looks to get an even spray tan with consistency. It is some what of an art form. Make sure who ever is applying it has a lot of experience. Ask to see a portfolio as any good artist has pictures of their own work.

I went to a tanning bed yesterday and stayed in for 15 min. I did this last year and it was great. Bu today I have a couple of stains in my hands skin, how do I remove them? please help!
hey susana,
noticed no one got back to you and figured i could suggest something. i have heard that you can use hydrogen peroxide to remove sunless tanners. this may also work with removing a spray tan so give that a try if it happens again. hope this helps!
