Summer is finally coming to an end which for most of us means it's time to move our tanning indoors.  For those of you in warmer climates, enjoy the natural sun!

This time of year I end up getting a lot of questions regarding tanning salons and spray tan.  I thought it would be a good idea to run through some important reminders to follow when moving your tanning "inside", so to speak.

Follow these simple tips to protect yourself from burning in the tanning bed:

- Remember, just because you have a natural tan doesn't mean you won't burn in a tanning bed.

- Don't Rush It!  Go slowly and build up to a full amount of time.  I can't tell you how many people tell me they wish they did this, but they didn't, and ended up with bad irritating burns.

- This is a big one!  Don't listen to your friends when it comes to tanning. Just because your friend lasted 15, 20, or 25 minutes in the tanning bed doesn't mean you can.  Everyone has different skin types and sensitivity.  GO SLOW!  A tanning bed burn is not what you want to be dealing with!

- Use a moisturizing and tan extender lotion made for tanning beds.  Indoor tanning can really dry out your skin so it's important to put on a moisturizer before and after you tan.  Most salons sell them or you can try on-line at the SkinStore.com which offers great pricing and free shipping on many of there products.

For those interested in a non-invasive approach to tanning you may want to try spray tanning.  More and more salons are offering this service and some solely provide only this service.  Once you learn the tips & tricks to spray tanning you can make it last almost as long as a regular tan without the possibility of burning your skin.

Good luck and don't forget to take care of your skin!
